Today we speak to co-managers of Fidelity Global Small Caps Opportunities fund Connor Gordon and Chris Maludzinski as they give an update on the fund, talk about their investing strategy, and where they are finding hidden gems in North America and globally. Chris explains how the fund provides access to a broader range of companies across the world, offering exposure to sectors and regions often overlooked by larger-cap funds. He adds the fund focuses on identifying companies undergoing positive changes or temporary setbacks, which creates opportunities for value-driven gains as businesses recover or grow. Connor says the fund is heavily weighted toward industrials and energy sectors, especially in themes like nuclear energy for decarbonization and AI infrastructure, which are poised for long-term growth. Connor adds that although it’s difficult to predict moving inflation or interest rates, the fund takes advantage of market dislocations caused by macroeconomic changes, allowing them to find undervalued opportunities.
